Need as a main verb:
Affirmative sentences में need का प्रयॊग अधिकांश समय main verb की तरह होता है। जिसका form subject के अनुसार बदलता है। इसका प्रयॊग negative और interrogative sentences में भी helping verb के साथ होता है। जैसे -
He needs our help. (उसे हमारी मदद की जरूरत है।)
They need money. (उन्हें पैसों की जरूरत है।)
She doesn't need to go there. (उसे वहां जाने की जरूरत नहीं है।)
Do you need any help? (क्या तुम्हें किसी सहायता की जरूरत है?)
We have got what we needed. (हमें वो मिल गया जिसकी हमें जरूरत थी।)
अगर main verb 'need' के बाद कोई अन्य क्रिया का प्रयॊग होता है तो उसे infinitive 'to' (to verb 1st form) से जोड़ा जाता है।
We need to find a way out. (हमें बाहर निकलने का रास्ता ढूंढने की जरूरत है।)
I do not need to talk to him. (मुझे उससे बात करने की जरूरत नहीं है।)

Need as a modal auxiliary verb
Need semi-modal verb है। इसका अर्थ है क़ि need का प्रयॊग एक verb और modal verb दोनों ही तरह से उपयोग होता है।
Affirmatives sentences में need का प्रयॊग (as a modal verb) बहुत अधिक प्रचलित नहीं है। Affirmatives sentences में इसका प्रयॊग औपचारिक संदर्भों में किया जाता है। अधिकतर समय ऐसे sentences में कोई negative words प्रयॊग होता है जैसे -
We need hardly say that we are very grateful. (हमें शायद ही कहने की जरूरत है कि हम बहुत आभारी हैं।)
'Need' is mostly used in negative and interrogative sentences. यह वाक्य में संदेह और नकारात्मक विचारों को व्यक्त करता है। जैसे -
She need not learn English. (उसे अंग्रेज़ी सीखने की जरूरत नहीं है।)
He need not earn money. (उसे पैसे कमाने की जरूरत नहीं है।)
Interrogative sentences में need का प्रयॊग not के बिना किया जाता है।

जब हम need का एक auxiliary verb की तरह प्रयॊग करते है तो इसके बाद "to" का प्रयॊग नहीं करते।
