1. When you see article THE before uncountable noun then see if the sentence is said in general sense or particular sense
E.g.
The work done by Mahesh is remarkable. (particular)
The work is worship (general)-- Work is worship

2. If the motive of going to a place is not mentioned for any particular place then don’t use THE
E.g.
I am going to Sarojini Nagar market
I am going to the Sarojini Nagar market to buy clothes.

3. Ordinal numbers- First, second, third…
Cardinal numbers- one, two, three, four…
E.g.
Ordinal- The third chapter of this book is very important.
Cardinal- The three girls who came yesterday were my friends.
