बहुत बार हम या हमारे friends या relatives किसी कठिन परिस्थिति में पड़ जाते हैं या ऐसी परिस्थितियों को स्वयं बुलाते हैं। हम कुछ idioms का प्रयॊग कर उन situations को थोड़ा decorative भाषा में बोल सकते हैं। ऐसे ही कुछ idioms हैं -
Play with Fire - Take part in a dangerous undertaking (आग से खेलना)
By being late all the time, Atul is playing with fire. (हर समय देर से होने पर, अतुल आग के साथ खेल रहा है।)
Skate on Thin Ice - to be in a risky situation (खतरनाक परिस्थिति में होना)
You are skating on thin ice when you ask me for one month leave. (आप एक खतरनाक स्थिति में हैं जब आप मुझसे एक महीने की छुट्टी के लिए पूछ रहे हैं।)
On Dangerous Ground - to do something that is likely to cause a problem or upset some people (खतरनाक स्थिति जिससे कोई तकलीफ हो या कोई परेशान हो)
Anil is on dangerous ground at the moment - he's always late for work. (अनिल इस समय खतरनाक स्थिति पर है - वह हमेशा काम के लिए देर हो चुकी है।)
Sail Close to the Wind - to take risks (जोखिम उठाना/ लगभग हवा के प्रतिकुल चलना)
She was sailing close to the wind when she called him a cheater. (वह जोखिम उठा रही थी जब उसने उसे एक बेईमान कहा।)
