होली रंगों का त्योहार है। तो आज हम उन्हीं रंगों से related कुछ idioms जानते हैं -
To wave a white flag - समर्पण या हार का संकेत देना (to offer a sign of surrender or defeat)
Despite the loss, the team refused to wave the white flag and give up on the season. (हार के बावजूद, टीम ने समर्पण करने और सीज़न में हार मानने से इनकार कर दिया।)
Black sheep (of the family) - कुलद्रोही/ परिवार का ऐसा व्यक्ति जो सबसे अलग हो (नकारात्मक sense में) (A person who is different (usually in a negative way) to the rest of the other family members)
Rahul is the black sheep of the family. He's always in trouble with the police. (राहुल परिवार का कुलद्रोही (ब्लैक शीप) है। वह हमेशा पुलिस के साथ परेशानी में रहता है।)
Feel blue - उदास होना या महसूस करना (To feel sad)
Can you call your mother? She’s feeling blue after you left. (क्या आप अपनी माँ को कॉल कर सकते हैं? आपके जाने के बाद वह उदास महसूस कर रही है।)
Pink Slip - नौकरी से निकालने का नोटिस मिलना (A termination notice received from a job)
They gave me my pink slip last week, so I’ve got to find a new job now. (उन्होंने मुझे पिछले सप्ताह नौकरी से निकालने का नोटिस दिया, तो मुझे अब नई नौकरी ढूढ़नी पड़ेगी। )
