Use of Conjunction: and, but, so, because in Spoken English

A conjunction is a word used to connect other words, phrases and clauses together.
"And" means in addition to. It's used when the statements are similar.
Example :
1. He’s 10 and she’s 12.
2. My mom and dad are teachers.

"But" means despite this. It's used to connect two opposite ideas.
Example :
1. I love ice cream, but he loves apples.
2. It’s sunny and hot, but I like it.
