Use of Would (past form of will)


1. Often used in auxiliary functions with rather to express preference:
ex: I would rather go shopping today.

2. Used to express a wish or desire:
ex: I would like to have one more pencil.

3. Used to express contingency or possibility:
ex: If I were you, I would be so happy.

4. Used to express routine or habitual things:
ex: Normally, we would work until 6 p.m.
