As the national capital and its surrounding states continue to reel under severe heatwave conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its forecast on Wednesday that monsoon is likely to hit Delhi-NCR around June 30. IMD added that dust storms and light-intensity rainfall activity are expected on Wednesday in Delhi. It is expected that monsoon will commence in Delhi with light rainfall and thunderstorms, likely bringing the temperature down in the national capital. In Delhi, monsoons typically last for the months of July and August. Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued a red alert for West Uttar Pradesh for the next two days and a red alert for Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday due to severe heatwave conditions. A red alert was issued for Delhi as well till June 19 in view of the rising temperature. IMD scientist Dr Naresh Kumar told ANI, “We had issued a red alert for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar yesterday, but today conditions have improved. There has been rainfall activity in Bihar.”

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी और उसके आसपास के राज्यों में भीषण गर्मी की स्थिति बनी हुई है। इस बीच भारत मौसम विज्ञान विभाग (IMD) ने बुधवार को अपने पूर्वानुमान में कहा कि 30 जून के आसपास दिल्ली-एनसीआर में मानसून आने की संभावना है। IMD ने कहा कि बुधवार को दिल्ली में धूल भरी आंधी और हल्की बारिश की संभावना है। उम्मीद है कि दिल्ली में मानसून की शुरुआत हल्की बारिश और गरज के साथ होगी, जिससे राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में तापमान में गिरावट आ सकती है। दिल्ली में मानसून आमतौर पर जुलाई और अगस्त के महीनों तक रहता है। इस बीच, मौसम विभाग ने भीषण गर्मी की स्थिति के कारण अगले दो दिनों के लिए पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश और बुधवार को उत्तर प्रदेश के लिए रेड अलर्ट जारी किया है। बढ़ते तापमान को देखते हुए 19 जून तक दिल्ली के लिए भी रेड अलर्ट जारी किया गया है। आईएमडी के वैज्ञानिक डॉ नरेश कुमार ने एएनआई को बताया, "हमने कल पंजाब, हरियाणा, दिल्ली-एनसीआर, उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार के लिए रेड अलर्ट जारी किया था, लेकिन आज स्थिति में सुधार हुआ है। बिहार में बारिश की गतिविधि हुई है।"
