Cabinet cleared Bill to restore the provisions of SC/ST Act- Namaste English

Facing pressure from Dalit leaders within the ruling alliance as well as from the Opposition, the Centre has decided to introduce a Bill to restore the original provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes Act, 1989, which the Supreme Court had struck down in a March ruling. The Union Cabinet had given its nod to the Amendment Bill and the government would try to introduce it in Parliament during the ongoing session.

सत्तारूढ़ गठबंधन के साथ-साथ विपक्ष के दलित नेताओं के दबाव का सामना करते हुए केंद्र ने अनुसूचित जातियों और अनुसूचित जनजातियों के अधिनियम, 1989 के मूल प्रावधानों को बहाल करने के लिए एक विधेयक पेश करने का फैसला किया है, जिसे सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने मार्च के फैसले में निष्फल किया था। केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने संशोधन विधेयक को मंजूरी दे दी थी और सरकार चालू सत्र के दौरान संसद में इसे पेश करने की कोशिश करेगी।
