Equal punishment for bribe-giver and bribe-taker

The Parliament has passed the Prevention Of Corruption (Amendment) Bill 2018. Acting as a deterrent to corruption done by public servants, this bill has enhanced the punishment for both bribe givers and takers. The bill has also expanded the definition of "undue advantage" so that other than legal remuneration, any gifts received for malafide motives, which were previously out of the purview of scrutiny, will now be considered as a bribe. This bill will become law after the President gives his assent.
