Govt nixes the minesweepers project- Namaste English

Government's decision to nix Rs 32,000 crore worth Minesweepers Project has given a major jolt to the Indian defence sector. Under this project of "Make In India", 12 state-of-the-art Minesweepers (warships equipped with the technology to disable the underwater explosives) were to be built in collaboration with South Korea at Goa Shipyard. This step is alarming for the Indian Navy as China's nuclear submarines are capable of laying the mines secretly and it's crucial to combat this challenge in the Indian Ocean.
