No Stay on Trial in Criminal Cases to Last Beyond Six Months: SC- Namaste English

To ensure speedy justice and discourage delaying tactics adopted by accused in procuring a lengthy stay on trial, particularly in corruption and criminal cases, the Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that a stay on proceedings must not exceed six months. The order should reduce the probability of the maxim “justice delayed is justice denied” becoming the norm.

शीघ्र न्याय मिलना सुनिश्चित करने और मुकदमे पर लंबे समय तक स्टे यानि रोक प्राप्त करने के लिए आरोपियों द्वारा अपनाए जाने वाले पैंतरों को हतोत्साहित करने के लिए, विशेषकर भ्रष्टाचार और आपराधिक मामलों में, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने यह फैसला सुनाया है कि किसी भी कार्यवाही पर लगे स्टे यानि रोक को छह महीने से अधिक नहीं होना चाहिए। यह आदेश "न्याय में देरी होना न्याय से वंचित होना है" की कहावत के आदर्श बनने की संभावना को कम कर सकता है।
