"Peaceful Protesters Not Traitors, Anti-Nationals": Bombay HC- Namaste English

People who are protesting peacefully against one law cannot be called "traitors" or "anti-nationals", the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has said. The high court's order came on a plea by Maharashtra resident Iftekhar Shaikh, who asked the court to allow him and others to sit on a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in Maharashtra's Beed district. A district magistrate and the police had refused permission to Mr Shaikh, 45, to hold the protest.

जो लोग एक कानून के खिलाफ शांतिपूर्वक विरोध कर रहे हैं, उन्हें "देशद्रोही" या "राष्‍ट्र विरोधी" नहीं कहा जा सकता, बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट की औरंगाबाद पीठ ने कहा है। उच्च न्यायालय का आदेश महाराष्ट्र निवासी इफ्तेखार शेख की याचिका पर आया, जिसने अदालत से महाराष्ट्र के बीड जिले में नागरिकता (संशोधन) अधिनियम (सीएए) के खिलाफ उसे और अन्य लोगों को विरोध के लिए बैठने की अनुमति देने के लिए कहा। जिला मजिस्ट्रेट और पुलिस ने 45 वर्षीय श्री शेख को विरोध प्रदर्शन की अनुमति देने से इनकार कर दिया था।
