Any suggestions on the credibility of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are “outlandish”, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday, responding to criticism on the transfer of ₹1.76 lakh crore surplus from the central bank to the exchequer. Speaking a day after the Central government’s windfall from the RBI, Ms Sitharaman said the government was yet to decide on the deployment of the funds. “I cannot comment right now on how these funds would be deployed. We will inform [the media] only after we have taken a decision on this,” the Minister said at a press briefing.

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) की विश्वसनीयता पर कोई सुझाव "विचित्र" हैं, केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने मंगलवार को केंद्रीय बैंक से राजकोष को 1.76 लाख करोड़ अधिशेष के हस्तांतरण पर आलोचना का जवाब देते हुए कहा। आरबीआई से केंद्र सरकार को हुए अप्रत्याशित लाभ के एक दिन बाद बोलते हुए, सुश्री सीतारमण ने कहा कि सरकार को धन के फैलाव के बारे में फैसला करना बाकी है।उन्होंने एक प्रेस वार्ता में कहा, “मैं अभी इस पर टिप्पणी नहीं कर सकती कि इन निधियों को फैलाव कैसे किया जाएगा। हम इस बारे में निर्णय लेने के बाद ही मीडिया को सूचित करेंगे।"
