SC permits passive euthanasia- Namaste English

Stating that human beings have the right to die with dignity, the Supreme Court today gave the landmark decision to allow passive euthanasia. The court also allowed to draft a living will in which a person can state in advance that if they slip into an incurable coma, their life should not be prolonged by putting them on a ventilator. The court today also set in place strict guidelines for carrying out the mandate of a 'living will'.

यह मानते हुए कि मनुष्य को गरिमा के साथ मरने का अधिकार है, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आज निष्क्रिय इच्छामृत्यु की अनुमति देने का एक ऐतिहासिक निर्णय दिया है। अदालत ने एक जीवित वसीयतनामा तैयार करने में भी अनुमति दी है जिसमें एक व्यक्ति अग्रिम रूप से बता सकता है कि यदि वे एक लाइलाज कोमा में चले जाते हैं, तो वेंटिलेटर पर डालकर उनके जीवन को जारी नहीं रखा जाना चाहिए। अदालत ने 'जीवित वसीयतनामे' के अधिदेश को पूरा करने के लिए सख्त दिशानिर्देश भी बनाए हैं।
