Supreme Court adjourns hearing on Article 35A- Namaste English

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on pleas challenging the validity of Article 35A of the Constitution. Under Article 35A, any non-permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir is debarred from the right to acquire a permanent settlement, immovable property, government job, scholarship and financial aid in the state. As the Panchayat election process is underway in the state, Centre had also sought an adjournment of the hearing.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सोमवार को संविधान के अनुच्छेद 35A की वैधता को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई स्थगित कर दी। अनुच्छेद 35A के तहत जम्मू-कश्मीर के किसी भी अस्थाई निवासी को राज्य में स्थाई निवास, अचल संपत्ति, सरकारी नौकरी, छात्रवृत्ति व आर्थिक सहायता प्राप्त करने के अधिकार से वंचित किया जाता है। क्योंकि राज्य में पंचायत चुनावों की प्रक्रिया जारी है, केंद्र ने भी इस मामले की सुनवाई के स्थगन की मांग की थी।
