Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) announced the relaunch of Pro Wrestling League (PWL), the franchise-based competition that had been discontinued since 2019, here on Saturday. PWL ran for four seasons from 2015 to 2019 before being halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The latest iteration of the league will begin in January with a number of elite national and international wrestlers set to compete, PWL promoters and WFI said. The league will have six city-based franchises, each comprising nine wrestlers. There will be five Indian and four foreign wrestlers in each team. All competitions will be held in Olympic weights with five men and four women in action across the nine weight classes. Like the previous editions, bouts will be held only in freestyle and women’s divisions.
भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ (डब्ल्यूएफआई) ने शनिवार को यहां प्रो रेसलिंग लीग (पीडब्ल्यूएल) को फिर से शुरू करने की घोषणा की, जो 2019 से बंद कर दी गई फ्रेंचाइजी आधारित प्रतियोगिता थी। कोविड-19 महामारी के कारण रुकने से पहले पीडब्ल्यूएल 2015 से 2019 तक चार सत्रों तक चला। पीडब्ल्यूएल प्रमोटर्स और डब्ल्यूएफआई ने कहा कि लीग का नवीनतम संस्करण जनवरी में शुरू होगा जिसमें कई शीर्ष राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय पहलवान प्रतिस्पर्धा करने के लिए तैयार हैं। लीग में छह शहर-आधारित फ्रेंचाइजी होंगी, जिनमें से प्रत्येक में नौ पहलवान होंगे। प्रत्येक टीम में पांच भारतीय और चार विदेशी पहलवान होंगे। सभी प्रतियोगिताएं ओलंपिक भार में आयोजित की जाएंगी, जिसमें नौ भार वर्गों में पांच पुरुष और चार महिलाएं भाग लेंगी।
