English में एक अक्षर शब्द का अर्थ बदल देता है। अब Capital और Capitol का ही लीजिये। दोनों शब्दों में सिर्फ एक अक्षर का अंतर है (a और o का) पर इसी से इसका पूरा अर्थ बदल जाता है। आइये इनमें अंतर जानें -
Capital:
As a noun: राजधानी/ मुख्य नगर (a city that is the seat of the government for a country or a state)
New Delhi is the capital of India. (नई दिल्ली भारत की राजधानी है।)
अर्थव्यवस्था (finance) में capital का अर्थ मूलधन/ संपत्ति या पूँजी होता है (money, equipment, or property that is used in a business)
Right now rates of return on invested capital are high. (अभी निवेश पूंजी पर वापसी की दरें अधिक हैं।)
As an adjective: बड़ा अक्षर (an upper case letter)
Every sentence should start with a capital letter. (प्रत्येक वाक्य को बड़े अक्षर से शुरू करना चाहिए।)
सबसे बड़ा/ प्रमुख/ महत्वपूर्ण/ मुख्य (main or principal)
Ambani Group awarded funding for capital projects in Banaras. (अंबानी समूह ने बनारस में मुख्य परियोजनाओं के लिए धन मुहैया कराया।)
Capitol
अमेरिकी संसद भवन/ कांग्रेस सदन (more specifically, to the U.S. Capitol building located in Washington, D.C. (जब हम किसी particular building/ a building or set of buildings in which a state legislature meets का use करते हैं तो Capitol का “C” हमेशा capital होता है।)
Texas congressman saved unconscious man’s life at U.S. Capitol. (टेक्सस कांग्रेसमैन ने अमेरिकी संसद भवन में एक बेहोश व्यक्ति के जीवन को बचाया।)
