1. जब कोई singular countable noun किसी Speech में पहली बार आता है तो उसके पहले A/An लगता है, परंतु जब उसी nounकी पुनरावृत्ति होती है तो उससे पहले “The” लगता है
जैसे- I saw a girl. The girl was beautiful.

2.यदि वाक्य में Noun+preposition+noun का प्रयोग हो तो प्रथम noun के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होगा
जैसे- The gold of India is famous.

3. पर्वत श्रेणी (range of mountains) के नामों के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है
जैसे- The Himalayas, The Vindhyas, The Alps

4. चोटी(Peak) या पहाड एकवचन रूप में होते है उनके नाम के पहले “The” प्रयोग नहीं होता है
जैसे- mount Everest , mount abu, Snow-don

5.द्वीयप समूह (group of islands) के नामों के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है
जैसे- The West Indies, The Andaman, The East Indies
