Council (काउन्सल) (Noun)
an assembly of people who serve in an administrative capacity/ a group of people who get together to figure something out, or or a group chosen to give advice (महासभा/ परिषद/ समिति)
The town council is responsible for keeping the streets clean. (नगर परिषद सड़कों को साफ रखने के लिए जिम्मेदार है।)
This play is supported by a grant from the local arts council. (यह नाटक स्थानीय कला परिषद के अनुदान द्वारा समर्थित है।)
Counsel (काउन्सल) का प्रयॊग verb और noun दोनों ही तरह से होता है।
As a noun: advice (सलाह) Counsel is a synonym for advice.
He provided good counsel to the young boys in his training camp. (उसने अपने प्रशिक्षण शिविर में युवा लड़कों को अच्छी सलाह प्रदान की।)
one or more of the lawyers taking part in a legal case (वकील)
The judge addressed counsel. (जज ने वकील को संबोधित किया।)
As a verb: to give advice (especially on social or personal problems - परामर्श, उपदेश या सलाह देना)
The police have provided experts to counsel local people affected by the tragedy. (पुलिस ने त्रासदी से प्रभावित स्थानीय लोगों को सलाह देने के लिए विशेषज्ञों की व्यवस्था की है।)
Before the 16th century, council and counsel were interchangeable, but by the 1500s, council's meaning became restricted to "a meeting" and counsel's "to give advice." The two should not be confused. Never!
