that's why और that's because का प्रयोग करते समय बहुत सावधानी बरतनी चाहिए। कभी कभी दोनों को एक ही अर्थ में ले लिया जाता है जो बिलकुल गलत है। आज हम इनका सही प्रयोग सीखते हैं -
That's why - इसका प्रयोग प्रायः जब कोई पूछता है WHY? (क्यों) उसका answer देने के लिए होता है। That's why एक मायने में क्यों का सीधा सीधा उत्तर देता हैं और उसका reason बताता है (That is the reason for....)
जैसे -
Why did you lie?
I was scared, and that's why I lied. (मैं डर गया था, और इसीलिए मैंने झूठ बोला था।)
You are always scolding him. That's why he does not come here anymore. (आप हमेशा उसे डांट रहे हैं। इसलिए वह अब यहां नहीं आती है।)
इन दोनों ही वाक्यों में reason - कारण बताया है।

"That's because" उस reason की व्याख्या करता है। That is the result of ....जैसे
Why did you lie?
I was scared, and that's because you are violent. (मैं डरा हुआ था, और ऐसा इसलिए कि तुम हिंसक हो।)
We got wet. That's because it rained. (हम भीग गए। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि बारिश हुई।)
He didn't take part in any activity. That's because he was not well. (उन्होंने किसी भी गतिविधि में हिस्सा नहीं लिया। ऐसा इसलिए कि वह ठीक नहीं था।)
