What is 'intransitive verbs' and its use in written and Spoken English

What is 'Intransitive Verbs'?

Intransitive verbs are action verbs that do not need a direct object to complete their meaning. This means that the action does not pass to someone or something else. Intransitive verbs can stand alone in a sentence and still make sense.

Key Concepts:

- Intransitive Verb (अपरिवर्तनीय क्रिया): A verb that does not require a direct object.

- Action (क्रिया): The act of doing something.

Usage Examples:

1. The baby cried. (बच्चा रोया।)

2. She sleeps peacefully. (वह शांति से सोती है।)

3. They arrived late. (वे देर से पहुंचे।)

Key Mistakes:

1. Using an intransitive verb with a direct object. For example, saying "He laughed a joke" is incorrect. The correct form is "He laughed." (उसने हंसी मजाक नहीं किया। सही रूप है "उसने हंसी मजाक किया।")

2. Confusing intransitive verbs with transitive verbs, which do require a direct object. For example, "She reads a book" is transitive, while "She reads" is intransitive.

Understanding intransitive verbs helps improve both written and spoken English by making sentences clearer and more effective.
