The Madras High Court on Thursday delivered a split verdict on petitions that challenged the disqualification of 18 AIADMK MLAs for owing allegiance to AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran. While Chief Justice Indira Banerjee favoured upholding Speaker P Dhanapal's decision to disqualify these dissident MLAs, Justice M Sundar disagreed to it. This matter will now be heard by a third judge.
