The fourth Defense Cooperation Dialogue (DCD) was held in Male on Sunday between India and Maldives. The talks were held between Defense Secretary Giridhar Armane and his Maldivian counterpart, Major General Abdulla Shamal, Chief of Defense Force, Maldivian National Defense Force. This Defense Cooperation Dialogue is the highest institutionalized interactive mechanism between the two countries. Its usefulness was demonstrated by the importance given by the two countries to the talks in chartering the future course of relations between the two armed forces. Bilateral defense cooperation activities were reviewed during the talks. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the increasing engagements. Current bilateral exercises were discussed in the talks, in which both the countries agreed to increase the complexity of these exercises. The armed forces of India and Maldives are exploring bilateral cooperation in several areas and the increased engagement is a positive sign for the future of bilateral relations. Giridhar Armane thanked Major General Abdullah Shamal and his delegation for the fruitful talks and said that India is ready to continue continuous contact based on the consensus reached in the 4th Defense Cooperation Dialogue.

भारत और मालदीव के बीच रविवार को माले में चौथी रक्षा सहयोग वार्ता (DCD) आयोजित की गई. रक्षा सचिव गिरिधर अरमने और मालदीव के उनके समकक्ष, मालदीव नेशनल डिफेंस फोर्स के चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस फोर्स मेजर जनरल अब्दुल्ला शमाल के बीच यह वार्ता हुई. यह रक्षा सहयोग वार्ता दोनों देशों के बीच उच्चतम संस्थागत इंटरएक्टिव तंत्र है. दोनों सशस्त्र बलों के बीच संबंधों के भविष्य के पाठ्यक्रम को चार्टर करने में दोनों देशों द्वारा वार्ता को दिए गए महत्व से इसकी उपयोगिता को प्रदर्शित किया. बातचीत के दौरान द्विपक्षीय रक्षा सहयोग गतिविधियों की समीक्षा की गई. दोनों पक्षों ने बढ़ती व्यस्तताओं पर संतोष व्यक्त किया. वार्ता में मौजूदा द्विपक्षीय अभ्यासों पर चर्चा हुई, जिसमें दोनों देश इन अभ्यासों की जटिलता बढ़ाने पर सहमत हुए. भारत और मालदीव के सशस्त्र बल कई क्षेत्रों में द्विपक्षीय सहयोग तलाश रहे हैं और बढ़ी हुई व्यस्तता द्विपक्षीय संबंधों के भविष्य के लिए सकारात्मक संकेत है. गिरिधर अरमने ने मेजर जनरल अब्दुल्ला शमाल और उनके प्रतिनिधिमंडल को सार्थक वार्ता के लिए धन्यवाद दिया और कहा कि भारत चौथी रक्षा सहयोग वार्ता में बनी आम सहमति के आधार पर निरंतर संपर्क जारी रखने के लिए तत्पर है.
