The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam has launched the “innovation Passport” or i-Passport, a pioneering initiative to fast-track health-tech and med-tech innovations in India. The platform is designed to provide startups, researchers, and innovators with access to AMTZ’s advanced R\&D facilities, testing labs, regulatory guidance, funding opportunities, and expert mentorship. Already, more than 75 incubators and over 1,000 startups are linked with the programme, with plans to expand to 200+ incubators nationwide. The i-Passport aims to reduce the long gestation period for medical device development by offering a one-stop ecosystem that bridges innovation with commercialization. This initiative is expected to boost India’s self-reliance in healthcare technology, strengthen the startup ecosystem, and promote indigenous solutions for global medical challenges.
