Reliance Communications (RCom) chairman Anil Ambani on Wednesday was found guilty of contempt by the Supreme Court over non-payment of Rs 550 crore dues owed to Swedish telecom giant Ericsson. A bench of justices R F Nariman and Vineet Saharan asked Ambani to pay Rs 453 crore to Ericsson within four weeks and warned he would face three months jail if its orders were not followed. The bench pronounced the verdict after Ericsson dragged Ambani to court after RCom failed to clear its dues despite having given an undertaking to pay the amount. Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, representing Ericsson India in the case, had earlier invoked the Rafale deal to target Ambani during the hearing.
रिलायंस कम्युनिकेशंस (आरकॉम) के चेयरमैन अनिल अंबानी को बुधवार को स्वीडिश टेलीकॉम दिग्गज एरिक्सन पर बकाया 550 करोड़ रुपये का भुगतान न करने पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा अवमानना का दोषी पाया गया। न्यायमूर्ति आर एफ नरीमन और विनीत सहारण की पीठ ने अंबानी से चार सप्ताह के भीतर एरिक्सन को 453 करोड़ रुपये का भुगतान करने को कहा और चेतावनी दी कि यदि इसके आदेशों का पालन नहीं किया गया तो उन्हें तीन महीने जेल का सामना करना पड़ेगा। बेंच ने राशि का भुगतान करने का वचन देने के बावजूद आरकॉम के अपना बकाया चुकाने में असफल रहने के बाद एरिक्सन द्वारा अंबानी को अदालत में घसीटने के बाद फैसला सुनाया। मामले में एरिक्सन इंडिया का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले वरिष्ठ वकील दुष्यंत दवे ने पहले सुनवाई के दौरान अंबानी को निशाना बनाने के लिए राफेल सौदे का आह्वान किया था।
