Alleging that the Modi government is attempting to throttle the democracy, Anna Hazare on Friday sat on an indefinite hunger strike. Anna, who is a social crusader, is protesting against the Modi government’s policies, their indifference towards the farmers and its failure to appoint the Lokpal. Anna's supporters burnt effigies of the Narendra Modi government in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district and also accused the Central government of attempting to thwart his hunger strike in New Delhi.
