The BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is charged with raping a 17-year-old girl, was detained by the CBI early Friday morning. The rape victim said that she stayed in Delhi for one year along with her now deceased father out of fear. After facing severe flak over the delay in taking action against his party MLA, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said his government had not deviated from its zero-tolerance policy on crime and that it would sternly deal with criminals, no matter how influential they might be.
