The Supreme Court on Friday gave its assent to the Central government's Cauvery Management Scheme draft. The court stated that this draft scheme was in conformity with Section 6A of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act. This judgment, given by A.M. Khanwilkar, also stated that there is no point in pursuing a contempt action against the Centre for not framing the draft scheme within deadline as this lapse was due to certain circumstances that were beyond the Centre’s reach.
