The Madras High Court has asked the Centre government to ban Chinese app TikTok. The order has been issued by the Madurai bench of the high court. The app has 200 million-plus downloads in India and is especially popular in small towns. The app is free to download, users though may have to pay for some in-app purchases. This is not the first time that TikTok has found itself in controversy. Previously too several experts have raised concerns over the app being used by predators to target kids and adolescents.

मद्रास उच्च न्यायालय ने केंद्र सरकार से कहा है कि वह चीनी ऐप TikTok पर प्रतिबंध लगाए। यह आदेश उच्च न्यायालय की मदुरै पीठ ने जारी किया है। भारत में ऐप के 200 मिलियन से अधिक डाउनलोड हैं और यह छोटे शहरों में विशेष रूप से लोकप्रिय है। ऐप फ्री में डाउनलोड होता है, हालांकि उपयोगकर्ताओं को कुछ इन-ऐप खरीदारी के लिए भुगतान करना पड़ सकता है। यह पहली बार नहीं है जब TikTok ने खुद को विवादों में पाया है। पहले भी कई विशेषज्ञों ने बच्चों और किशोरों को लक्षित करने के लिए दरिंदो द्वारा उपयोग किए जा रहे ऐप पर चिंता जताई।
