Three days after the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani hit Odisha coast, the State government on Monday reached several villages blocked by uprooted trees and collapsed electrical poles for the first time to find people in dire need of water, food and polythene sheets. When the cyclone warning came in the last week of April, people living in villages and hamlets had stocked food in their houses. But in the last three days, they had exhausted all theirs stocks. The demand for immediate supply of food and other basic materials is growing louder but officials are unable to meet it.

ओडिशा तट पर आए भीषण चक्रवाती तूफान फोनी के तीन दिन बाद राज्य सरकार सोमवार को पहली बार उखड़े हुए  पेड़ों  और टूटे हुए बिजली के खंभों द्वारा अवरुद्ध गांवों में पानी, भोजन और पॉलिथीन शीट की अत्यंत जरूरत में लोगों को ढूंढने के लिए पहुंची। अप्रैल के अंतिम सप्ताह में जब चक्रवात की चेतावनी आई, तो गाँवों में और छोटे गाँवों में रहने वाले लोगों ने अपने घरों में भोजन इक्कठा कर लिया था। लेकिन पिछले तीन दिनों में, उन्होंने अपने सभी भंडारों को समाप्त कर दिया था। भोजन और अन्य बुनियादी सामग्रियों की तत्काल आपूर्ति की मांग तेज़ी से बढ़ रही है लेकिन अधिकारी इसे पूरा करने में असमर्थ हैं।
