After claiming 16 lives in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, cyclone Ockhi is now headed towards Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea. The torrential rains have crippled the normal life and the Met department has warned that situation might exacerbate in the next 24 hours. To expedite relief works in the worst hit Kanyakumari, two teams of NDRF and seven teams of state disaster response agency have been deputed.
