Equinix, a global leader in digital infrastructure, has inaugurated its first AI-ready International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in Chennai, named CN1. Built with an initial investment of about USD 69 million (\~₹600 crore), the facility is spread over six acres in Siruseri. CN1 currently houses 800 cabinets, with plans to scale up to 4,250 cabinets over the next 4–6 years. The centre is equipped with advanced liquid cooling technology, designed to support high-density, compute-intensive AI workloads. Linked with Equinix’s Mumbai campus, the Chennai facility strengthens India’s position as a digital hub in South Asia. It will accelerate AI adoption, cloud services, and digital transformation for enterprises while also creating opportunities for startups and research. This marks a significant step toward enhancing India’s digital and AI infrastructure.
