FASTag has become mandatory across the country since 16 February. This means that now no vehicle will cross from the toll plaza without FASTag, double toll will be charged from whichever train exits the toll plaza without FASTag. Under this rule, the system has been in operation for the last 10 days and now statistics are showing that a one-day collection of FASTag has crossed the 100 crore mark. Through its official Twitter handle, NHAI has informed that on February 25, a total of more than 64.5 lakh vehicles passed through the toll plaza resulting in a collection of Rs 103.94 crore. In terms of figures, this figure is the highest ever. The government wants that the fuel and time wasted by stopping at the toll plaza should be completely saved. Before February 16, around 80 per cent of the vehicles were paying through FASTag. For the rest of the 20 per cent people to pay in the same way, the Fastag has been made mandatory by the government.
16 फरवरी से फास्टैग पूरे देश में अनिवार्य हो गया है। इसका मतलब ये है कि अब बिना फास्टैग के टोल प्लाजा से कोई गाड़ी पार नहीं होगी, जो भी गाड़ी बिना फास्टैग के टोल प्लाजा से निकलेगी उससे दोगुना टोल वसूला जाएगा। इसी नियम के तहत पिछले 10 दिन से व्यवस्था चल रही है और अब आंकड़े बता रहे हैं कि फास्टैग का एक दिन का कलेक्शन 100 करोड़ के आंकड़े को पार कर गया है। अपने आधिकारिक ट्विटर हैंडल से एनएचएआई ने जानकारी दी है कि 25 फरवरी को कुल 64.5 लाख से ज्यादा वाहन टोल प्लाजा से गुजरे जिससे 103.94 करोड़ रुपये का कलेक्शन हुआ। आंकड़ों के लिहाज से ये फिगर अब तक का सबसे ज्यादा है। सरकार चाहती है कि टोल प्लाजा पर रुकने से जो ईंधन और वक्त बर्बाद होता है उसे पूरी तरह से बचाया जाए। 16 फरवरी से पहले तक करीब 80 फीसदी वाहन फास्टैग के जरिए ही पेमेंट कर रहे थे। बाकी 20 फीसदी लोग भी इसी तरह से पेमेंट करें इसके लिए सरकार ने फास्टैग अनिवार्य कर दिया है।
