India plans to set up around 14 gigawatt-hour (GWh) grid-scale battery storage system at the world’s largest renewable energy park at Khavda in Gujarat, said by union power and new and renewable energy minister Raj Kumar Singh.This is in addition to a plan to invite bids for the largest global tender for setting up a 13GWh grid-scale battery storage system in Ladakh. The strategic push will make India’s grid-scale battery storage programme the largest in the world.Large battery storages can help keep India’s power grids stable, given electricity is produced intermittently from clean energy sources such as solar and wind. 1GWh (1,000-MWh) of battery capacity is sufficient to power 1 million homes for an hour and around 30,000 electric cars.

केंद्रीय बिजली और नए और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्री राज कुमार सिंह ने कहा कि भारत गुजरात के खावड़ा में दुनिया के सबसे बड़े अक्षय ऊर्जा पार्क में लगभग 14 गीगावाट-घंटे (जीडब्ल्यूएच) ग्रिड-स्केल बैटरी स्टोरेज सिस्टम स्थापित करने की योजना बना रहा है। यह लद्दाख में 13GWh ग्रिड-स्केल बैटरी स्टोरेज सिस्टम स्थापित करने के लिए सबसे बड़ी वैश्विक निविदा के लिए बोलियां आमंत्रित करने की योजना के अतिरिक्त है। यह strategic push भारत के ग्रिड-स्केल बैटरी स्टोरेज प्रोग्राम को दुनिया में सबसे बड़ा बना देगा।  क्योंकि बिजली का उत्पादन सौर और पवन जैसे स्वच्छ ऊर्जा स्रोतों से रुक-रुक कर होता है, बड़े बैटरी स्टोरेज भारत के पावर ग्रिड को स्थिर रखने में मदद कर सकते हैं,। 1GWh (1,000-MWh) की बैटरी क्षमता 1 मिलियन घरों को एक घंटे और लगभग 30,000 इलेक्ट्रिक कारों को बिजली देने के लिए पर्याप्त है।
