In a blog published on Monday, Central Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley sought to assuage worries related to the job market in India. Even though hiring in the formal job market has remained stagnant despite the GDP growth, Jaitley tried to defend that the unemployment rate in May was 5.24 percent in May, as against 5.64 percent in the previous month. Taking a dig at the critics of the government, Jaitley also said that neither the India's GDP has declined by 2 per cent on account of demonetisation and GST implementation and nor will India live in poverty, as predicted by former finance minister. 

सोमवार को प्रकाशित एक ब्लॉग में, केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली ने भारत में नौकरी बाज़ार से संबंधित चिंताओं को शांत करने की कोशिश की। हालांकि GDP में वृद्धि के बावजूद औपचारिक नौकरी बाज़ार में भर्ती मंद रही है, जेटली ने सफाई दी कि मई में बेरोज़गारी का दर 5.24 प्रतिशत हो गया जो की उससे पिछले महीने 5.64 प्रतिशत था। सरकार के आलोचकों पर उपहास करते हुए जेटली ने यह भी कहा कि न तो विमुद्रीकरण और जीएसटी लागू करने के कारण भारत के GDP में 2 प्रतिशत की कमी आई है और न ही भारत गरीबी में रहेगा, जैसा कि पूर्व वित्त मंत्री द्वारा भविष्यवाणी की गई थी।
