The construction of India's first underwater tunnel in Kolkata under the Hooghly river for establishing metro connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata is underway and will be made fully functional by 2023. The station is being built under the Hooghly river at a depth of 33 meters. As per the source 80 per cent of work has been completed while 20 per cent is yet to be finished. It will expected to functional by 2023. the East-West corridor of the Kolkata Metro is 15 Km-long and spans from Salt Lake Stadium to Howrah. This metro line between Salt Lake Sector-5 to Salt Lake Stadium has Karunamayi, Central Park, City Center and Bengal Chemical metro stations.
हावड़ा और कोलकाता के बीच मेट्रो कनेक्टिविटी स्थापित करने के लिए हुगली नदी के नीचे कोलकाता में भारत की पहली अंडरवाटर टनल का निर्माण चल रहा है और इसे 2023 तक पूरी तरह कार्यात्मक बना दिया जाएगा। स्टेशन हुगली नदी के नीचे 33 मीटर की गहराई पर बनाया जा रहा है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक 80 फीसदी काम पूरा हो चुका है जबकि 20 फीसदी काम अभी बाकी है। इसके 2023 तक काम करने की उम्मीद है। कोलकाता मेट्रो का ईस्ट-वेस्ट कॉरिडोर 15 किलोमीटर लंबा है और साल्ट लेक स्टेडियम से हावड़ा तक फैला है। साल्ट लेक सेक्टर -5 से साल्ट लेक स्टेडियम के बीच इस मेट्रो लाइन में करुणामयी, सेंट्रल पार्क, सिटी सेंटर और बंगाल केमिकल मेट्रो स्टेशन हैं।
