DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, who passed away at 6:10 pm on Tuesday, was buried at Chennai's Marina Beach, where three other former chief ministers including Jayalalithaa have memorials. Popularly known as Periyar, Karunanidhi was Jayalalithaa's biggest rival who always fought against caste-system and oppressive methods of the Brahmins. His son MK Stalin broke down after hearing that the Madras High Court has allowed his father's burial at Marina Beach.
