Senior advocate Indu Malhotra will be the first woman lawyer to be elevated as a Supreme Court judge after the Law Ministry cleared her name for the position. She is likely to take oath as a Supreme Court judge on Friday. Malhotra, a renowned arbitration expert, became the second woman lawyer to be designated as a senior advocate by the SC in August 2007, three decades after the honour was first bestowed on Leila Seth.
