Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest vehicle manufacturer, announced that it will stop manufacturing diesel vehicles from April 1, 2020 when the new BS 6 emission norms will be introduced. The high cost of upgrading existing diesel engines to the BS 6 norms propelled the company to take such a decision. The company will try to focus on compressed natural gas (CNG) and hybrid technology driven vehicles to compensate the vacuum created by the phasing-out of diesel vehicles.

देश की सबसे बड़ी वाहन निर्माता कंपनी मारुति सुजुकी ने घोषणा की कि वह 1 अप्रैल 2020 से जब नए बीएस 6 उत्सर्जन मानदंड पेश किए जाएंगे तो डीजल वाहनों का विनिर्माण बंद कर देगी। मौजूदा डीजल इंजन को बीएस 6 मानदंडों में अपग्रेड करने की उच्च लागत ने कंपनी को इस तरह का निर्णय लेने के लिए प्रेरित किया। कंपनी डीजल वाहनों के हटने से बनी खाली  जगह की भरपाई करने के लिए संपीड़ित प्राकृतिक गैस (CNG) और हाइब्रिड प्रौद्योगिकी चालित वाहनों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने की कोशिश करेगी।
