On Tuesday, the SC amended its interim order given on November 30 and now has made it optional instead of mandatory to play the national anthem before the film starts in cinema halls across the country. However, if the anthem is played then the audience present in the hall, except for persons with disabilities, are obliged to stand up in its honour. A 12-member committee created by the central government will now make a final decision on this.
