Facebook-owned WhatsApp will start operating its 'UPI payments service' in the world's biggest open technology market. The messaging app, which has been testing its payment service in India for more than a year, can now go live using the homegrown, multibank. This secure payments experience makes transferring money just as easy as sending a message. For this, it is important to have a bank account and debit card. The Facebook-owned messaging app will send instructions to banks, also known as payment service providers, that will initiate the transfer of money via UPI between money sender's and receiver's bank accounts.
