The National Green Tribunal (NGT) summoned the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the Delhi government’s Revenue Secretary seeking reasons behind the delay in demarcation of forest land in the Southern Ridge. A Bench headed by NGT judicial member Justice Raghuvendra S. Rathore said, “In order to look into the issues thoroughly and to have the views of both, i.e. Forest Department and the Revenue Department, we direct Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Secretary, Revenue Department, to be present before the tribunal on the next date.” The officers have been asked to be present before the tribunal on January 31 to apprise the Bench of the reasons behind the delay in demarcation. The directions came while the green panel was hearing a plea filed by city resident Sonya Ghosh and others who sought removal of encroachments on forest land in the Southern Ridge

नेशनल ग्रीन ट्रिब्यूनल (एनजीटी) ने प्रधान मुख्य वन संरक्षक और दिल्ली सरकार के राजस्व सचिव को दक्षिणी चोटी में वन भूमि सीमांकन  में हुई देरी के पीछे कारणों की तलाश करने के लिये बुलाया। एनजीटी के न्यायिक सदस्य न्यायमूर्ति रघुवेंद्र एस राठौड़ की अध्यक्षता वाली एक पीठ ने कहा, मुद्दों को पूरी तरह से देखने और दोनों के विचार रखने के लिए, अर्थात् वन विभाग और राजस्व विभाग, हम प्रधान मुख्य वन संरक्षक और राजस्व विभाग के सचिव, को अगली तिथि पर ट्रिब्यूनल के समक्ष उपस्थित होने का निर्देश देते हैं”। अधिकारियों को 31 जनवरी को ट्रिब्यूनल के समक्ष उपस्थित होने के लिए कहा गया है ताकि सीमांकन में हुई देरी के कारणों से पीठ को अवगत कराया जा सके। यह निर्देश तब आया जब ग्रीन पैनल शहर निवासी सोन्या घोष और अन्य लोगों द्वारा दायर याचिका पर सुनवाई कर रहा था, जिन्होंने दक्षिणी रिज में वन भूमि पर अतिक्रमण हटाने की मांग की थी।
