The Supreme Court has abrogated the use of ‘None Of The Above’ (NOTA) option in the coming Rajya Sabha elections. A bench led by CJI Dipak Misra stated that use of NOTA option in the Rajya Sabha elections, as prescribed by the Election Commission, is impermissible as it is meant to be exercised by individual voters in direct elections only. This verdict has come after a plea filed last month by Shailesh Manubhai Parmar.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आने वाले राज्यसभा चुनावों में 'नन ऑफ़ द अबव' (NOTA) यानि 'इनमे से कोई भी नहीं' विकल्प का उपयोग रद्द कर दिया है। CJI दीपक मिश्रा की अगुआई वाली न्यायपीठ ने कहा कि चुनाव आयोग द्वारा निर्धारित राज्यसभा चुनावों में NOTA विकल्प का उपयोग अस्वीकार्य है क्योंकि यह केवल व्यक्तिगत मतदाताओं द्वारा सीधे चुनावों में प्रयोग करने के लिए है। यह फैसला शैलेश मनुभाई परमार द्वारा पिछले महीने दायर की गयी याचिका के बाद आया है।
