The government on Friday announced its decision making the Aadhaar card mandatory for opening bank accounts and conducting financial transactions of Rs 50,000 and above. Moreover, existing bank account holders have been asked to submit their Aadhaar cards issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to banks by December 31 this year, failing which banks will invalidate their accounts.

सरकार ने शुक्रवार को अपने फैसले की घोषणा की कि बैंक खाते खोलने और 50,000 रुपये और उससे अधिक का वित्तीय लेनदेन करने के लिए आधार कार्ड अनिवार्य होगा। इसके अलावा, मौजूदा बैंक खाताधारकों को भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (यूआईडीएआई) द्वारा जारी किए गए आधार कार्ड बैंकों को इस साल 31 दिसंबर तक जमा करने को कहा गया है, जिसके न होने पर बैंक उनके खातों को रद्द कर देंगी।
