According to the reports, several opposition parties, including the Congress, are preparing to bring an impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Deepak Mishra. The proposal had been initially mooted after four Supreme Court judges accused the CJI’s misuse of his position. Justice Mishra, became the 45th Chief Justice of India on August 27, 2017, after the retirement of former Chief Justice, JS Khehar. His tenure ends on October 2, 2018.
