On the occasion of Makar Sankranti this Sunday, it was announced that 'Padmavati' has now been officially renamed as 'Padmavat' and will be released on January 25. The makers of the film once again reiterated in an issued statement that the film is based on the composition of Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film, which was scheduled for a December 1 release, faced the ire of organisations like Karni Sena the Kshatriya Mahasabha.
