Petta is the best Pongal gift for all the Rajinikanth fans. Rajinikanth’s style, dialogues and action sequences are a feast for the audience who have been waiting to see the superstar return on the silver screen. In the movie, the 68-year-old megastar features as a feisty hostel warden named Kaali, who has a reputation for dealing with goons in his own unique manner. There isn't much to say about the story of Petta. It is more or less a tribute to Rajinikanth's 1997 megahit film Baasha. Unlike other Karthik Subbaraj’s films that had strong roles for women, Simran and Trisha did not get enough screen presence in Petta.
