In March this year, the Special Task Force of Assam Police arrested three alleged rhino poachers and recovered a rhino horn weighing 7.14 kilograms from Kamrup district. The Assam forest department in collaboration with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and local police busted an illegal animal body parts trade racket in Assam’s Sonitpur district and arrested one suspected rhino poacher, officials said on Friday.  The arrested accused has been identified as Hanif Ali. He was arrested from the Bharali Chapori area of Sonitpur’s Jamugurihat on Thursday evening with body parts of animals, including a rhino horn, said officials. The divisional forest officer (DFO) of Western Assam Wildlife Division, B Piraisoodan, said they received information about an illegal trade of animal bodies, following which an operation was launched on Thursday evening. 

इस साल मार्च में, असम पुलिस के विशेष कार्य बल ने कामरूप जिले से तीन कथित गैंडा शिकारियों को गिरफ्तार किया और 7.14 किलोग्राम वजन का एक गैंडे का सींग बरामद किया। अधिकारियों ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि असम वन विभाग ने वन्यजीव अपराध नियंत्रण ब्यूरो (डब्ल्यूसीसीबी) और स्थानीय पुलिस के साथ मिलकर असम के सोनितपुर जिले में एक अवैध पशु अंग व्यापार रैकेट का भंडाफोड़ किया और एक संदिग्ध गैंडा शिकारी को गिरफ्तार किया। गिरफ्तार आरोपी की पहचान हनीफ अली के रूप में हुई है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि उसे गुरुवार शाम सोनितपुर के जमुगुरीहाट के भराली चापोरी इलाके से एक गैंडे के सींग सहित जानवरों के अंगों के साथ गिरफ्तार किया गया। पश्चिमी असम वन्यजीव प्रभाग के प्रभागीय वनाधिकारी (डीएफओ) बी पिराईसूदन ने कहा कि उन्हें जानवरों के शवों के अवैध व्यापार के बारे में सूचना मिली थी
