President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday rejected the mercy plea of Mukesh Singh, one of the four men convicted in the 2012 Nirbhaya case, soon after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) forwarded him the petition. Earlier in the day, the MHA on Friday recommended to the President to reject the mercy plea. Earlier, Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal too recommended rejection of his mercy plea. Within hours, the MHA also conveyed to the Delhi government the decision of the President.
