Reserve Bank Governor, Shaktikanta Das told the banks that the current economic conditions may pose some difficulties in front of them, so banks should be ready to face them with full vigour. In conversation with the heads of public sector banks, Das also noted that the banking sector is improving and has strengthened. The Reserve Bank Governor's remarks come at a time when the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth reached a six-year low of 4.5 per cent in the second quarter of the year.
